Meng Zhao is a stem cell biologist and hematologist who currently serves as a professor at the Zhongshan School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University. Dr. Meng Zhao is an accomplished stem cell biologist and hematologist whose research focuses on elucidating the mechanisms regulating blood stem cells and developing effective therapeutic approaches for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and leukemia treatment. His laboratory employs genetic models and clinical specimens to investigate the cell-intrinsic and microenvironmental control of normal and leukemia stem cells. Dr. Zhao's significant contributions to the field include identifying megakaryocytes as a hematopoietic stem cell niche and characterizing leukemic stem cells in T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL). His laboratory has recently expanded their research to include the metabolic mechanisms that regulate normal and leukemic stem cells.
