Dahai Zhu is a Professor of the Bioland Laboratory (Guangzhou Regenerative Medicine and Health Guangdong Laboratory), the State Key Laboratory of Complex, Severe, and Rare Diseases, Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and School of Basic Medicine. Dr. Zhu received his Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from Department of Genetics at North Carolina State University USA. After postdoctoral training with Dr. Jone Heitman at Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Department of Genetics of Duke University Medical Center, he became an Assistant Professor at North Carolina State University. In 2003 he was recruited as a distinguished professor and a Deputy Director of Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College. Dr. Zhu has dedicated his career to deciphering the molecular mechanisms of asymmetric division of muscle stem cells regulated by metabolic signaling and 4D genome organizations during muscle development, regeneration and muscle diseases such as muscular dystrophy and aging-induced sarcopenia. Based on their innovative researches, his group has identified some small chemical compounds that exert therapeutically potential for treatment of muscular dystrophy, sarcopenia and metabolic diseases such as obesity and fatty liver.  His works have been published in Nature Medicine (2023), Cell Metabolism (2023), Nature Communs (2015. 2017. 20222023), EMBO J (2019), Cell Research, J.
