
José Silva is a full time Principal Investigator at the Guangzhou National Laboratory (GNL), China, since 2021. Before joining GNL, he worked at the Wellcome Trust Stem Cell Institute, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, as a Principal Research Associate and Wellcome Senior Research Fellow. His research is now focused on the development of in vitro model systems that can mimic mouse and human organogenesis. José is also known for his pioneering contributions to the research field of nuclear reprogramming and has authored numerous publications as corresponding author published in top tier scientific journals such as Cell, Nature, Cell Stem Cell, Developmental Cell and Nature Cell Biology. During his time at the University of Cambridge he won successively highly competitive awards such as the Wellcome Senior Research Fellowship Award. Recently, José was the recipient of the National Major Talent Award (China).
