
Utpal Banerjee finished his Ph.D. degree and postdoctoral training in California Institute of Technology. Dr. Banerjee is Irving and Jean Stone Chair in Life Sciences, Distinguished Professor in Department of Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology in UCLA College of Life Sciences, Distinguished Professor of Department of Biological Chemistry in Geffen School of Medicine and Howard Hughes Medical Institute Professor in University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Banerjee has published more than 120 high quality papers and presented at numerous academic conferences around the world. Dr. Banerjee was inducted as Member of the National Academy of Sciences in 2019, and also received the membership of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (2008) and Foreign Fellowship of Indian National Science Academy (2020 and 2019). He has also received many awards and honors, such as NIH Director’s Pioneer Award (2011), Howard Hughes Medical Institute Professors Award (2010, 2006 and 2002) and 117th Faculty Research Lecture of UCLA (2014).
