Jiekai Chen obtained his bachelor degree from Sun Yat-Sen University, and completed his PhD degree from Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2011. After graduation, he continued to work at GIBH and was promoted to professor in 2013. As a principal investigator in Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health, Chinese Academy of Sciences, he was awarded by The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. Jiekai has a long-term research interest in decoding the programing principle and epigenetic mechanism underlying cell fate determination, and has made many big breakthroughs in stem cell, embryonic development, and bioinformatic research fields. As corresponding authors, he has published more than 20 scientific papers in international journals with high impact factors such as Nature, Cell, Cell stem cell, Molecular cells, etc. He was funded by National Basic Research Program of China and National Key R&D Program of China. He was awarded as the Outstanding Young Scientists of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2014, and has won the Second Class Award of National Award for Natural Sciences (Major Contributor) in 2018.
